Before the treatment can be planned and scheduled, you will be taken to a specialized X-ray clinic to get a high-resolution panorama X-ray made. This will allow the dentist to get an overview of the general condition of your teeth and bone structure as well as to ensure that you are offered the correct form of treatment. If you are getting implants, you will also get a CT-Scan (3D digital imaging of your jaw bone structure) which ensures the highest possible precision of setting the implant(s).

We offer three types of quality crowns. The standard crown (MK crown) is typically used on molar and premolar/bicuspid teeth (the inner teeth used for grinding) and for implants, while we recommend the crown fused to gold for premolar/bicuspid and cuspid teeth (the ‘canine tooth’ and the following two teeth) as many find this type of crown more aesthetically pleasing than the MK crown. The top of the line, the full porcelain crown, is especially recommended for front teeth – the closest possible to a normal tooth. The post and core restoration is typically required if you have had root canal on a tooth or it is cracked in order to ensure that the foundation (where the crown is attached) has adequate strength.

Dental implants are made from commercially pure titanium, which is both a strong metal and the metal best suited for implants with the lowest risk of rejection by the body. The dental implant is a small screw that will be drilled into the bone in order to let the bone fuse with the metal – a so-called osseo integrated implant. Dental implants require two trips to Hungary; on the first trip the implants are inserted (and for front teeth, equipped with temporary crowns - protective covers). On the second trip, after the bone has fused to the metal in 12-16 weeks, the finished crowns will be attached.

Composite filling is the ‘modern’ filling that has replaced the amalgam fillings used in the past. There is still no clear proof of whether the quicksilver contents of the amalgam will hurt the body as the filling gets old or not, but if you feel that a tooth with an amalgam filling is getting sensitive, that may be a sign of that the filling is getting old (typically after 15-20 years). The most common reason for replacing amalgam fillings is that the white filling is more aesthetically pleasing. The porcelain veneer is also called a half-crown, because it replaces part of the tooth (especially used on front teeth) with the same natural look as the original teeth. After 2-3 years, composite fillings will gradually get a little darker which is why a veneer or a crown is the best option for repair of a front tooth.

Getting dentures normally requires two trips to Hungary; on the first trip your teeth are extracted and a couple of fittings will ensure that you can use the dentures until the second visit (when the bone and gums have stabilized after 6-8 weeks) where the dentures will be relined and fitted for the long term fit. Depending on the rate of natural changes in your gum and jaw structure, it will be necessary to reline the dentures every 1-3 years and it will be necessary to replace the dentures after 4-6 years. If the front teeth are still good, then partial dentures on a cast arch may be a good solution for the upper mouth, but regular partial dentures is an alternative. Partial dentures can be attached on a precision attachment anchored on an adjacent tooth or on a telescopic crown, where the attachment is fixed to the base of a remaining tooth or an implant. Full and partial dentures are removable, while the fixed alternative is getting a bridge attached to existing teeth or based on implants.

During a root canal treatment, the top of the tooth is opened, then the nerves and tissue are excavated from the root and replaced by a rubber cement compound, and then the top of the tooth is closed again. Front teeth have one root, the cuspid and bicuspid have two roots, while molar and premolar have three. Curettage is surgical treatment of periodontitis, an inflammation of the tissue around and under the teeth that often lead to decay of the bone as well. Closed curettage is often used as initial treatment while open curettage is necessary for more advanced cases. Bone augmentation is a surgical procedure to augment bone mass if the bone is too weak to hold implants (e.g. due to periodontitis). If the upper jaw is augmented it is often called a sinus lift.
All materials used have been tested and certified bio-compatible and are sourced from internationally recognized suppliers in e.g. Germany, Japan, Sweden, Switzerland, and USA.
